Today’s message is titled “I am ABLE.” All who follow Christ Jesus are given gifts from The Holy Spirit. These are the gifts that have allowed the church to flourish for two thousand years. The Holy Spirit gives all gifts such as those shown in 1st Corinthians 12:7-11 A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have. These are given to be used and it grieves The Spirit when we do not use the gifts we are given. The devil likes nothing better for us not to be used There are many excuses in this world and the devil makes more every day. The more we walk closer to God and stay in prayer, the more we want to use the gifts we have been given and the less those excuses have a hold on us. Galatians 5: 22-24 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.

Today’s message is entitled “Mission POSSIBLE.” The line from the famous movie “Mission Impossible” goes something like; ”your mission, should you choose to accept it…” Our mission for all of us that have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior is to Love and serve His children. This mission is possible because with God these things are made possible. The Church belongs to God and His mission is all that matters in the life the church. DMC is live and well. We are ready and willing to bring His message to the corners of the earth as commanded in Matthew 28. Changes to decorations and even pews are coming but when changes are made to make the church more accessible to all, these are good changes. Remember that the cross is all that really matters anyway. So, remember church as we all go throughout the world all week, let the light of Jesus Christ shine out.

In Today's Message, Pastor Jon continues his Sermon series "Building a Strong Foundation." The power of prayer is a cornerstone of the Christian Faith as God uses Prayer to work with and through us to share Christ with the lost. It is only through Christ that we can enter the Kingdom of God, and this is the most important message that we Must Share with the entire World.

Today’s message is entitled “New Year, Same God”. Today marks six months since Pastor Jon Long started at Damascus Methodist Church and, as he put it this morning, “the honeymoon is over and it is time to roll up our sleeves and get to work.” We are building upon what was started and we are grounded in God’s Word. As long as we continue to be grounded in His word, He will use us to continue His mission in many ways. God’s word is dynamic because The Holy Spirit moves as we read it and reveals new details and ideas from the same scripture as we are ready to receive it. This new year is a great time to re-devote ourselves to the same mission that has been set before us. To Live for Christ is to strive for Holiness and seek the lost is our mission and is exactly what we will continue to do in 2024 and beyond. Let’s Roll!
